3 Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting My Healing Journey
JC
If you’re on a healing journey right now—or even just thinking about starting one—I want to share something with you. These are the three things I wish someone had told me before I started mine. Because wow… I had to learn these the hard way. And maybe this will save you a little bit of that pain and pressure.
1. You don’t need to be fully healed to start living your life.
Let’s get this one out of the way first. If you’re waiting until you feel “healed” or “ready” to go after what you want—to start dating, leave the job, speak up, move forward—you’re going to be waiting forever. Growth doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It happens while you're living, messing up, trying again, and doing the best you can. You don’t have to be perfect to begin. You just have to begin.
2. Feeling better doesn’t always mean feeling happier.
This one shocked me. I thought healing would feel light and freeing right away… but a lot of the time, it felt heavy. Like grief. Like anger. Like exhaustion. And that’s because healing often involves actually feeling the things you’ve been avoiding for years. It’s not always a high-vibe experience. But that doesn’t mean it’s not working—it means it is.
3. You’re not broken.
The patterns you’re trying to change? They started as protection. People-pleasing, shutting down, over-functioning—those were survival tools. You did what you had to do to stay safe. But now? You get to choose differently. You don’t need to shame your past—you need to understand it so you can grow from it.
If any of this hit home for you, just know: this is exactly the kind of work I do with my coaching clients every week. It's not about being perfect. It’s about being honest, supported, and committed to growth that actually sticks.
If you're ready to do that work—with support—send me an email at [email protected]
I’d be honored to walk beside you.
